Summary

Amends the:

Family Law Act 1975
in relation to: shared parental responsibility; the definition of ‘family violence’; the compliance and enforcement regime; the role of independent children’s lawyers as best interest advocates; the relationship between parenting orders and family violence orders; the jurisdiction of the Federal Magistrates Court in certain property matters; and ineffective orders made by non-judicial officers of State courts of summary jurisdiction;
Evidence Act 1995
and
Family Law Act 1975
to provide for less adversarial child-related proceedings;
Family Law Act 1975
,
Federal Magistrates Act 1999
,
Income Tax Assessment Act 1997
and
Marriage Act 1961
in relation to counselling and dispute resolution services for separating and divorcing parents;

and 5 other Acts to remove references to ‘residence’, ‘contact’ and ‘specific issues orders’; and

and 4 other Acts to relocate defined terms to form a dictionary.
